The Power of Words

image

Normally, I am a woman of many words. However, here lately in one particular area of my life, I have been unusually silent.

I truly believe that our WORDS have power! Our words can either BUILD UP our lives and those around us, or TEAR DOWN our lives and those around us. It’s a choice. Choose wisely!

BEFORE you and I speak, let us consider Proverbs 18:21:

Words kill, words give life;
they’re either poison or fruit—YOU choose.
(Message Bible)

What YOU say can preserve life or destroy it; so you must accept the consequences of your words. (Good News Translation)

On today, and really every day, remember to SPEAK (confess, vocalize, declare, and make known) LIFE (hope, joy, love, truth, and peace)!

SPEAK LIFE over your situation, over your children, over your marriage/relationships, over your job/career, over your finances, over your body, over your health, over your mind, and over your dreams.

When you are not able to speak life in a situation, STAY QUIET. In a certain situation I’m dealing with, I choose to remain silent. I recognize that what I would LOVE to say, will do more harm than good.

BEFORE you and I say more than necessary, remember Proverbs 10:19:

Too much talk leads to sin. Be sensible and keep YOUR mouth shut. (New Living Translation)

The more YOU talk, the more likely you are to sin. If you are wise, you will keep quiet. (Good News Translation)

Sometimes the old saying is true, If you don’t have anything nice to say don’t say anything at all.

Whoever guards his mouth and tongue, keeps his soul from troubles. Proverbs 21:23

My hope is that as I trust God with the outcome of this situation that I will be able to speak life. Until then, I’ll keep silent and pray!

Prayer: On this day, let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in Your sight, O Lord (Psalm 19:14). Help me to be gracious when I speak. Let my goal be to bring out the best in myself and others in a conversation, not put them down (Colossians 4:6). Help me to put a guard over my mouth and a watch over my lips (Psalm 141:3). God, I know there is power in my words. Don’t allow me to speak negatively over myself, my spouse, my children, my family, my body, or any area of my life. There is a time to speak and a time to be silent (Ecclesiastes 3:7). Help me to know the difference. Lord, convict me when corrupt communication comes out of my mouth (Ephesians 4:29). Lord, I thank you in advance for helping me choose wisely the words that I speak. In Jesus name, I pray. Amen!

Have a blessed day and an awesome week!
