Happy Mother’s Day to ALL the women who currently play a significant role in a child’s life.  It truly takes a village in today’s age to raise a child.

So whether you are the biological mother, adoptive mother, aunt, sister, educator, friend, etc, I salute you today for all you do. Your role, no matter the size, plays a part in shaping the man or woman that child will become.

It’s Not How You Start, But How You Finish!

Hope DespairRecently, I visited a local church with my sister. During the sermon, the pastor, who is a former professional football player, recalled a time he fumbled the football during a critical moment of the game. After the fumble, he felt defeated knowing he let his teammates and coach down.

To his surprise, as he walked to the sidelines, his coach greeted him with words of encouragement. He said, “Forget about the fumble. If you keep thinking about the fumble, you will fumble again. There will be many more opportunities for you to make a play, so don’t get stuck in the moment.” Continue reading →

Finish StrongThis past weekend I decided to flip through some old journals and quickly noticed a recurring theme throughout. Almost every year I wrote about a particular dream that God placed on my heart years ago as a teenager.

As I read journal after journal, I realized here I am at the start of a new year and I have yet to accomplish that dream.

The Greatest Gift

1 Corinthians 13I attended an intimate event last night so beautiful, I just had to share.

The invitation itself indicated this would be something unique. The host did not request anything, except our presence at her event.  She specifically requested no one bring a gift.

I recently learned of a tragic event involving two young boys. A 9-year-old boy was playing at the neighborhood playground with his brothers, when a 12-year-old boy approached them. The 12-year-old boy, without warning, stabbed the 9-year-old boy, who later died from his injuries.

After the stabbing, the 12-year-old calmly went to a neighbor’s house called the police and confessed. He waited patiently for the police and when they arrived, he turned himself in and said, “I want to die. I’m tired of life.” Continue reading →
