Sometimes You Have to Encourage Yourself!

image

As a child, I remember hearing adults say, “Do as I say, not as I do.” In other words, do what I tell you even if you see me doing the opposite. I always found that confusing.

However, lately I’ve been encouraging others to fight, believe, and trust, yet I didn’t have the strength to live out what I was encouraging them to do.

I freely shared words of life and hope with others, but was speechless when it came to me. When I needed encouragement the most, I came across my own words from an interview posted on The Far Above Rubies Collection in November 2016. Now, I have to do as I say!

I never shared the interview with anyone until now. I pray it is as much of a blessing and an encouragement to you, as it was for me.

For I Know the Plans….

image

For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

This is just a reminder to someone today that God loves you. No matter what it looks like right now, He has a plan for your life.

You are not forgotten!

You are not alone!

You are LOVED!

This situation too will pass!

Prayer: Father God, I thank you for always being here for me, even when I don’t realize it, or feel you near. God, things seem crazy and chaotic right now, but I know you have great plans for my life. This trial is not who I am. I will overcome. This situation will work together for my good. Help me to trust Your plan even when I don’t understand. Thank you in advance for what You are doing, and for what You are going to do in my life. I love you and I know you love me. In Jesus name I pray, Amen!

Have a blessed day and remember to find the “jolly” in every “moment” life brings your way on today!

Why Settle for Good, When You Can Have Best!

image

I recently heard a story that I believe may bless some of you.

On the day of the final exam, the professor gave every student the option of receiving a “C” on the exam without taking it. More than half the class accepted the “C” and left. The professor passed out the exam to those who remained. Before he allowed them to turn the exam over, he encouraged them and told them they would do great things in life. When the students turned the exam over, it had two sentences: Congratulations! You made an “A”!

What would you have done in that situation? What do you believe about yourself today? Do you belief you are worth a “C” because an “A” seems impossible, or out of your reach?

I challenge you to raise your expectations for what you will do. Raise your expectations for what you can have.

The students who settled for the “C” did get something good. However, the ones who knew they were worth more and believed in themselves, stayed and got best.

Do not allow the circumstances of life, your past, or even what you did this morning make you think that something is not possible for you.

Do not allow someone else’s opinion of you to become your reality. You are worth it! You can do it!

Please note, what is best for you and what is best for someone else may look completely different. Some of those students may have felt a “C” was best so they accepted it. The purpose here is to know what best is for YOU and pursue it!

No matter what, don’t settle for good when you can have best for your life!

Have a blessed day!

Follow the Path That Leads to Your Peace

image

Years ago while searching for my first home, I found what I felt was the perfect house. When the time came to put down money, I backed out. Why? I did not have any peace.

If you do not have peace about that relationship, job opportunity, marriage, purchase, move, divorce, or whatever decision you are about to make, DON’T DO IT! WAIT!

TRUST your instincts. TRUST what God is speaking to you about that situation. It may not make sense now, but TRUST that He knows what is best.

It was hard walking away from that house. However, a year later God led me to the home I would buy. Not one that seemed perfect, but the one that was perfect and hand-picked for me. Looking back now, I’m grateful I walked away from good, because I ended up with God’s best for me.

God loves you (yes, YOU)! That pause, or hesitation, you feel in your spirit may save you from heartache and disappointments. It may mean He has something better. Or, it may simply mean it is not time, yet!

WAIT on God! TRUST His timing and follow the path that leads to your peace!

Peace does not always mean an absence of fear. Sometimes on the path of peace you may feel afraid, or uncomfortable. I was afraid when I walked away from the first house, and was afraid when it came time to put down money on the house I would buy, but I had peace.

Peace comes in TRUSTing God no matter how we feel, or what we feel, because we know He is in control and He will take care of us.

It’s Time to Focus on the Battle Within Me

image

“Sometimes I need to focus on the battle God wants to win in me more than the battle I want Him to win for me”. ~Steven Furtick

Often times we want so badly for God to deal with a certain person, or situation, that we lose sight of the work He’s trying to do on the inside of us.

Sometimes the battle we really need to win has nothing to do with the other person, but has everything to do with us.

I challenge you to shift your focus this week. Instead of focusing on what needs to change in the other person, focus on what needs to change in you!

Have a blessed day!

There Is Strength in My Weakness

image

For several months, I stressed myself trying to figure out how I could get out of a certain situation. After many sleepless nights, I finally let it go. I accepted that it was out of my hands. I told the Lord, “I trust You. Your will be done”.

The situation didn’t change, but my perspective changed. Instead of complaining about what was going wrong, I began to thank God for what was going right.

Alternate Routes Are Sometimes Blessings

image

Yesterday, on the way to an important meeting, I missed my exit. I was upset because my GPS previously indicated I would be ten minutes late. Now, I had to take an alternate route to get to my destination. I just knew I would now arrive even later.

After my initial whining and “why, God?”, I looked at my GPS and realized the alternate route put me on course to arrive ON TIME.

The Blessing in God Wrecking Your Plans

image

In January, I wrote a post called Everything Has Its Time. If you haven’t read it, click here to do so. After that post, God closed one door in my life and opened a new one. I was beyond excited!

However, for some reason (false loyalty, pride, fear, etc.), I kept my hand on the doorknob of the closed door as I walked through this new door. I tried to stay committed to something that God clearly removed me from.

When Chaos Feels Like Peace

image

“Whatever you’re doing inside of me, it feels like chaos but somehow there’s peace”

Sanctus Real

If a principal, boss, doctor, etc., has ever called you to his or her office, you know the agonizing feeling of waiting to hear what he or she has to say.

Some of us are sitting in the lobby area of God’s office waiting for Him to call us in and tell us the outcome of a situation, the next steps to take, or the reasons behind our current circumstance.

As we wait, all the unknowns, what ifs and possible outcomes (whether good or bad) race through our minds.

A Psalm Moment: A Prayer for Guidance, Deliverance and Forgiveness

image

I came across Psalm 25 during a recent bible study. So many parts of it ministered to my soul.

One thing I know for sure is when you are dealing with issues of life, you will never go wrong when you pray and confess God’s word over your life.

I pray that as you read this Psalm, parts of it becomes real to you. I pray it gives you a restored sense of peace and hope that God loves YOU! God will deliver you out of your troubles when you TRUST Him. God will forgive your sins when you CONFESS to Him. God will guide you when you ASK and are willing to OBEY.
