Take the Limits Off…

image

When a man has put a limit on what he will do, he has put a limit on what he can do. Charles M. Schwab

Sometimes where we are in life is a direct result of what we spoke, declared, and believed over our life.

It doesn’t matter if every person you know has failed at a particular thing, it doesn’t mean you will fail.

It’s A Matter of Trust!

image

TRUST in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding.
Proverbs 3:5

When most people drive across a bridge, they do so without thinking about whether or not the bridge will support them. They just intuitively trust that it will.

Things Are Not Always as They Appear

image

Just remember that sometimes, the way you think about a person isn’t the way they actually are. John Green

Just as you cannot always judge a book by its cover, you cannot always judge a person by his cover!

When I met my husband, his cover was beat up and bruised by life. Since I initially had no love interest in him, we became friends. As I opened the cover and turned the pages of his life, I knew I would become a part of his story.

Life Is Like a Rollercoaster: Two Reasons You Should Not Worry

image

Life is a roller coaster. You can either scream every time you hit a bump, or you can throw your hands up and enjoy the ride.
Author Unknown

In September, I screamed EVERY time I hit a bump. At the end of EVERY situation, I screamed for nothing because EVERY time it worked out.

God didn’t promise me my life would be trouble free. He did promise me two things.

A Burden That Was a Blessing in Disguise

Blessings in Disguise

“There are always flowers for those who want to see them.”  Henri Matisse

At the end of last year, I committed to doing some contract work for a private adoption agency.  I quickly regretted it.  The contract requirements and duties often conflicted with my personal beliefs and values.

When It Looks Like All Hope Is Lost

But as for you, you meant evil against me; but God meant it for good, in order to bring it about as it is this day, to save many people alive. Genesis 50:20 (NKJV)

Even when it does not look like it, God is always up to something. We have to learn to trust His plan even when we do not understand.

The story of Joseph in the bible is a great example that nothing can stop the plan God has for your life. Joseph went from being a slave, to prisoner, to being second only to the King.

From slavery to his promotion was something called process! It is in the process that many of us become discouraged and quit.

It may “look” like everyone around you is prospering, BUT looks are sometimes deceiving.  Continue reading

I Have Learned To Be Grateful For Closed Doors

image

This month I celebrated my thirty something 😉 birthday. As I look back over my life, I am grateful for so many things and one of them is CLOSED DOORS!

A decade ago, while in the process to buy my first home, I found one that had everything I wanted, except the color of brick. I shared with a friend that the house was too good to be true.

I asked, “Why would God give me exactly what I asked for?” She responded, “Why wouldn’t He?”

After a few days, I returned to find the home was no longer available. However, another house with everything the first one had, including the color of brick I wanted, was available to be built from the ground up.

One door closed, BUT a better one opened. I walked right through it and purchased my first home. Continue reading

The One Thing That Scares Me The Most

women-loveThis past week as I searched for quotes to post on my Jolly Moments Facebook page, I came across this one from Eleanor Roosevelt.

“Do something that scares you everyday”

As soon as I read this quote, I knew what I needed to do.

When I was three, my father, two older brothers, and uncle went on a fishing trip. This one decision forever changed our family.

My oldest brother loved to wear cowboy boots. The boots he loved caused him to slip in the water and a current took him under. My uncle jumped in to save him. Neither made it out. Continue reading

What to Remember When Waiting On Your Breakthrough!

Just when the butterfly thought

“Just when the caterpillar thought the world was over, it became a butterfly.”

The caterpillar has to go through metamorphosis to become a butterfly. At times, the process is difficult and painful, but the outcome is beautiful.

It is through trials, tests, and tribulations that we grow. Anyone can give up. However, it takes faith, courage, and endurance to keep pressing, standing, fighting, and believing when you don’t understand.

Your breakthrough may be on the other side of your next yes, next no, next act of obedience, next leap of faith, etc. You cannot skip the process, but still want the promise.

“When life is sweet, say thank you and celebrate. When life is bitter, say thank you and grow!”
